Information
Year 1774 Aknīste was first built a wooden church Sv. Ignacio keepsake.
The current church was intended to bring before the First World War and it was timely raised bricks. But the war disrupted the plans as a result of bricks used to build walls around the old church.
At
the new church began raising present in 1934 when the foundation was
put into, but the building itself was held at the 1937th - 1940.
It
is interesting that, in order to conclude the construction of the
church had previously built to demolish walls, because the missing
bricks. Constructed of stone over the past remained as part of the gate.
Aknistes church built after the Resurrection Church in Kaunas plan, modern style with a tower, only the reduced form. The large wooden altar, pulpit and the two side altars-made Renaissance-style woodcut in 1809. They are impressive and beautiful. Once they adorned Rokiskis churches.
