Information
Daugavpils Museum is located in the city center, next to the park Dubrovina. Its founder was a teacher, a professional archaeologist and artist, Oscar Smith (1902-1993). Financial support for the creation of the museum by the City and the Latvian Cultural Foundation. 1938th On 30th For the museum was officially open.

Daugavpils local history and art museum's mission: Museum collected, stored, researches and promotes the Daugavpils district's history, culture, art and nature, in order to stock a collection of impressions through educational activities within the county citizens, and create a particular school youth respect for their spiritual heritage and traditions, as well as knowledge of the county in national life.
