Information
Livonian Order 1342.th to Aluksne lake's largest island (Maria Island) built a fortified castle kastelas type. Jews had been a number of so-called front-palaces, continuously upgraded and expanded. This continued until the end of the 17th century up to the ramparts of protection system. Castle and the coast has linked 120m long wooden bascule bridge. 1702.gadā
Order castle ceased to exist in the Northern War defeated Swedish
troops blew up notwithstanding the central part of the castle.
Nowadays you can see ruins. On the island built open-air stage and resting place.
